M LEVINSON

Matthew Levinson, founder and designer of M Levinson, is a jewelry designer who demonstrates the intimate connection between his creations and the women who wear them.

As a child in Washington DC, Levinson spent many weekends at the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum studying the gem and mineral collections, as well as the jewelry collection. Matthew's interest in the arts led him to Hartford Art School where he received a BFA in Photography. After college, Levinson re-located to New York and entered into the editorial world as a photo editor. Levinson's talent and discerning eye landed him coveted spots at top rated glossies such as: Vanity Fair, Life & Style and Woman's Day Specials. It was his "hobby" for making jewelry that caught the eye of notable Fashion Directors, who purchased several necklaces and encouraged him to develop his hobby in to a business. Levinson spent a few months developing a proper collection, a business plan, along with an e-commerce website and soon found his designs in national glossies like Life & Style, Glamour, and Woman's Day Specials, and even fashioned a spot on the FOX Morning Show.

Matthew decided to take his love for making jewelry a step further and enrolled in his first metal smithing class with renowned jewelry designer Cecilia Bauer. This sparked his desire to transition from his career as a photo editor, to a full time career as a Jewelry designer. Levinson's collection evolved to feature jewelry made with precious and semi-precious cut stones, with combined techniques that allow the life of the stone to be as clear and bold as possible. M Levinson's distinctive line of jewelry is functional and unpretentious, with a complexity and richness of texture and color that defines his style.

M Levinson designs for the woman who longs for something fresh and distinctive. He pulls inspiration from those elements, and his love of metals, to create his eye catching jewelry, adorned with gems. M Levinson is a collection that is refined in luxury but subtle with sophistication. Levinson has since expanded his skills at The Jewelry Arts Institute in NYC, where he draws inspiration from his love of contemporary and European design.

M Levinson resides with in New Jersey where he is constantly creating and testing the functionality of his jewelry. His jewelry collections of stackable rings and bracelets can be found online and in stores at select locations nationwide.
